The Arabic word Islam simply means 'submission', and derives from a word meaning 'peace.' In religious context it means complete submission to the will of God. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority has nothing to do with the extremely grave events, which have come to be associated with their faith.
Islam has 5 main pillars: 1) bearing witness to God and Muhammad, His Prophet and Messenger, 2) observing daily prayers, 3) praying charity, 4) fasting during the month of Ramadan, and 5) performing the pilgrimage to Mecca.

3. What should I wear to the mosque?
It is most appropriate to wear modest, loose-fitting clothes. For example, pants rather than shorts. However, there is absolutely no dress code, and women are not required to wear a headscarf. Email us know if you have any questions!
4. What time are Friday Prayers?
During daylight savings, from November 5th to March 12, Friday prayers begin at 1:00 p.m.
Friday prayers begin at 2:00 p.m. all other times of the year.
